CATHOLIC TRAVEL GUIDE:
In searching around for ways to amuse and educate
my fellow internauts, it has occurred to me that
a specifically Catholic travel guide, with links
to online resources, would be amusing and educational.
So here we are.
In these pages you will find Latin Catholic parishes
with either decent liturgy (to include Tridentine
and Latin Novus Ordo), beautiful architecture,
specifically ethnic background, or historic significance.
You will also find Eastern Catholic, Eastern Orthodox,
and Anglo-Catholic parishes; the latter two categories
are included because of their intrinsic beauty
(which, alas, is no longer necessarily the case
with Latin churches), and for members of those
Churches. Similarly, there are historic sites,
and museums with collections of Catholic art and
artefacts. Also, some ethnic associations and
festivals are included, ethnic restaurants of
long standing and local cultural significance,
and, where applicable, Consulates of traditionally
Catholic or Orthodox countries. Also, when available,
links to histories f the given State, County,
and Town where these places are located is included.
Whether your journey is real or virtual, I hope
that you find this guide helpful!

MILITARY
DIOCESES:
Apart from the Papal Nunciatures and other diplomatic
offices around the world, the most obvious presence
of the Church in the life of a state, secular
or otherwise, is the Military Diocese.
These organisations, generally encompassing the
boundaries of an entire country, operate like
any other diocese --- save that their members
are simply the Catholics of that country’s
armed forces. For the secular state, at worst,
these ordinariates are purveyors of superstition
that assist their communicants to fight well ---
something all governments love, no matter how
much they despises the nation in general.
For the Church herself, of course, these bodies
allow her to assist those who are most in harm’s
way. At its best, the Military Diocese is truly
a noble institution. click

SITES
OF THE WEEK!
In order to help my fellow internauts makes sense
of the weird world in which we move, I will offer
each week (I hope!) five sites which I enjoy.
These will fall into five categories: Religion;
Politics; Travel; Fun; and a blog. Inclusion here
indicates overall approval of style and subtsance,
if not necessarily complete approval of every
point. Hope that you will all enjoy them as much
as I do. This week:
