All too frequently, there appears on alt.california yet another individual who complains that the price of vegetables would soar in the absence of illegal immigrants. The best comeback to this argument I've read yet has to be the famous Cheap Vegetables® post authored by BajaRat in April of '96...

Well, Kent, YOU WOULD FUCKIN' PICK PRODUCE if the wetbacks hadn't
driven down the labor rate and the pay was decent. Jesus Christ, you
